God wanted all of the Glory for the battle Gideon was going to fight in Judges 7, Gideon had 32,000 men ready for war, God told him the army was to big, so Gideon told anyone who was afraid they could go home so 22,000 people left, then God told Gideon to tell the 10,000 to get a drink of water and to send home those that cupped the water to their lips and keep only those who lapped the water like a dog to stay. Gideon’s army was left with only 300 men.

7 Then the LORD told Gideon, “I’m going to deliver you with the 300 soldiers who lapped by giving the Midianites into your control. Send everyone else back to their own homes.” (Judges 7:7)
